Great Falls of the Potomac River

Spending the afternoon at Great Falls on the Virginia side of the Potomac River. I love the sound of the falls — forceful yet soothing. It’s amazing that this rugged landscape is a 20 minute drive from where I live in hectic Tysons Corner and just 14 miles from The White House.

From Wikipedia:

“The river cascades over a series of 20-foot falls, falling a total of 76 feet in elevation over a distance of less than 1 mile, making the Great Falls the steepest fall line rapids of any river in the eastern United States.
