Great Falls of the Potomac River
Spending the afternoon at Great Falls on the Virginia side of the Potomac River. I love the sound of the falls — forceful yet soothing. It’s amazing that this rugged landscape is a 20 minute drive from where I live in hectic Tysons Corner and just 14 miles from The White House.
From Wikipedia:
“The river cascades over a series of 20-foot falls, falling a total of 76 feet in elevation over a distance of less than 1 mile, making the Great Falls the steepest fall line rapids of any river in the eastern United States.”

Steel Stacks
On day three of a five day road trip through eastern Pennsylvania, I’m stopping in Bethlehem for lunch. On the way into town I’m visiting the site of Bethlehem Steel’s original plant — an abandoned, rusting monument to America’s former industrial primacy.

Doylestown
It’s day two of a five day road trip
through eastern Pennsylvania and I’m visiting The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works. The pottery still produces handmade tiles in a manner similar to that developed by the its founder Henry Mercer.
My stay in Doylestown would turn out to be a most memorable experience.
